4-H Part-Time Student Assistant Position 


Position Description

The Napa County 4-H Youth Development Program helps young people, ages 5-18, reach their fullest potential as knowledgeable, confident individuals who contribute to and are connected with their communities, helping them develop essential skills that they will use throughout their lives.

In 4-H programs, youth complete hands-on projects in areas such as science, agriculture, healthy living, and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.

Napa County 4-H offers fun, educational experiences for youth in the community through community clubs, short-term projects, afterschool programs, and 4-H camps. Under supervision of the 4-H Program Coordinator, the 4-H Student Assistant will support the planning and implementation of 4-H youth programming in the community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the organization and delivery of programs such as county 4-H events, afterschool programming (Imagine Science and Cooking Academy), and single or multi day short-term project experiences in a variety of content areas. Anticipated schedule and work hours will vary but will primarily take place during weekday afterschool hours (after 3:00pm) and weekends, not to exceed 15 hours per week.

Ability to determine priorities and complete work in a timely manner. Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of and experience working with youth 5-18 years of age in Education, Child Development or Science (Preferred). Great opportunity for a student to gain clerical and hands-on experience working with youth in a variety of settings! Position Requirements Potential student assistant candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at a community college, state college, or university.
