Join 4-H (Enrollment)

For Youth

Primary 4-H Members: Primary members must be 5 years old by December 31st of the program year. Youth enrolling who turn nine on or after January 1 must participate as a primary member until June 30th. Primary members cannot enroll in large animal projects.

Junior, Intermediate, and Senior 4-H Members: Must be 9 years old by December 31st of the program year and may continue in the program until December 31st of the calendar year in which they become 19 years of age.

Youth Member Enrollment Process

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Find a local 4-H Club at http://ucanr.edu/napa4h  and contact the 4-H Club Leader or visit during a 4-H Club meeting. 


 2. Submit 4-H youth member enrollment online at https://ca.4honline.com

a. New Member: Create a family profile, create a new youth enrollment, enter all information, and submit. 4hOnline status will show as pending.

b. Returning Member: Do not create a new duplicate account! Login to your family profile and click “Enroll for 2019-2020.” Enter all required information and submit. 4hOnline status will show as pending. To obtain a password, click on “I forgot my password” and then check your family email address for the temporary password.
 
3. Submit $68 payment to 4-H Club Leader or Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator.
 
4. The application is reviewed by the 4-H Club Leader and the County 4-H Office. When approved, notification of your 4-H youth enrollment will be sent from 4hOnline.

For New Adult Volunteers

New Adult Volunteer Initial Appointment Enrollment Process

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Find a local 4-H Club at http://ucanr.edu/napa4h and contact the 4-H Club Leader to obtain more information about 4-H.


 2. Complete the interest survey at http://ucanr.edu/napavolunteer


 3. Submit 4-H adult volunteer application online at https://ca.4honline.com. Create a family profile, add a new adult enrollment, enter all required information, and submit. 4hOnline adult status will show as pending. 


 4. Complete required “2019-2020 California New Volunteer Training” in eXtension.

Go to https://campus.extension.org/course/view.php?id=1731. Create a new account, check your email and click on the confirmation link, log into eXtension and click “2019-19 California New Volunteer Training” and enter the code “Napa”. Courses include: (a) 4-H Volunteer Orientation (4 modules, 40 min), (b) Foundations of Positive Youth Development (20 min), (c) Toward an Interculturally Connected 4-H (3 modules, 60 min), and (d) Abuse Risk Management for Volunteers (20 min). (*Note: Every individual must use their own unique email address.

 5. Submit $24 payment to 4-H Club Leader or Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator.


 6. Complete fingerprint background check – Live Scan – with the California Department of Justice. Complete at any location that provides Live Scan. Fees vary between $20 and $60 depending on the provider. Ask your 4-H Club Leader or Volunteer Enrollment Coordinator which location they recommend.

 7. The application is reviewed by the county director. If approved, notification will be sent from 4hOnline. If there are any limitations on the appointment, a subsequent letter will be sent. If not approved, a letter will be sent to you from the county director.

For Returning Adult Volunteers

Returning Adult Volunteer Re-Appointment Enrollment Process

Step-by-Step Instructions

Re-Appointment Deadline: December 31, 2019.

 
 1. Submit your 4-H adult volunteer re-application in 4hOnline. Login to your family profile at https://ca.4honline.com. Login to adult record and click “Enroll for 2019-2020.” Enter all required information and submit. 4hOnline adult status will show as pending.

 
 2. Complete required “2019-2020 California Returning Volunteers Training” in eXtension.

Go to https://campus.extension.org/course/view.php?id=1732. Log into your existing account and click “2019-20 California Returning Volunteers Training” and enter the code “Napa”. a. Maintaining an Inclusive 4-H Experience (10 min)  b. Abuse Risk Management for Volunteers (15 min)  (*Note: Every individual must use their own unique email address.
